The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested an alleged Democratic campaign canvasser who the agency identified as an illegal immigrant from Nigeria, according to a statement released Wednesday.
DHS claims Chimaobim Adedayo Igbojekwe was “working as a canvasser” for Democratic congressional candidate Janelle Stelson, who is running against Republican Rep. Scott Perry in Pennsylvania’s 10th congressional district. Igbojekwe was found “with his pants off in public, fully exposing himself” in a residential neighborhood with children nearby, according to the DHS statement.
Igbojekwe entered the United States legally in June 2017, but remained in the country illegally after his two-year authorized stay ended in November 2019, according to the statement. The Biden administration granted him deferred action in September 2021, allowing him to remain in the country. (RELATED: Republican Senator Backtracks After Slamming ICE Deportations)
Republican election activist Scott Presler claimed in a video posted on X that Igbojekwe was “planning on passing out” Stelson’s campaign flyers in the neighborhood where he was arrested.
Stelson campaign manager Alma Baker claimed that Igbojekwe had “never been employed” by the campaign.
“This individual is not and has never been employed by the Janelle Stelson campaign. If he is an illegal immigrant who committed a crime he should be deported,” Baker stated. “We never heard of him prior to the news of his arrest. We are grateful to law enforcement for acting swiftly to arrest him.”
ICE Deputy Director Charles Wall stated, “It’s unbelievable that Janelle Stelson would employ an illegal alien to work on a Congressional campaign, let alone a pervert who exposed himself in public.” Wall added, “Every single day, the men and women of DHS are working hard to target and remove dangerous illegal aliens like this sicko from our communities. The Trump Administration will always put the safety of the American people first.”
